One stop Shop List for all IT / Social Media/ Forums/ Listervs for Librarians

it would be great if all the networking, sharing and collaborating tools that are in use could be listed on one site, that way we all know whats available. Maybe the IT-SIG wiki or the IT-SIG Blog on the LIANZA Website? Any other ideas?

School libraries and connecting to the rest of you.

I'm always finding out things that I don't know I didn't know. For example that this network existed, and how did I find it. Via a National Library tech blog that I didn't know about until recently and which contains lots of info about things I actually need to know, like, 'we are taking the server down so therefore you won't be able to access your website', need to know, frustrating in the extreme. Why don't I know these things? I consider myself one of the more connected people in our school… Continue

Ground Floor Alterations @ Dunedin Public Libraries

From 28 May – 2 June some alterations take place on the Ground Floor of the City Library.

This includes recarpeting, rearranging the layout of furniture and work on the entrance way and under the escalator.

The event will be documented on the libraries Flickr account.

ALIA Information Online Conference

I've just got back from the ALIA Information Online Conference in Sydney and really enjoyed it.

My own website blog has a few posts from the venue with some thoughts etc.

I will try to add more there and add to the Flickr group with the photos I took while over there.

Meredith Farkas speaking to Building Academic Library 2.0

This is a video of a keynote address Meredith Farkas gave to a conference at UC Berkeley. It is 70 minutes long but skip the first 13 or so minutes as it is just introductions. The link is at: Building Academic Library 2.0
In it she discusses a definition of library 2.0 and then gives some great tips for using web 2.0 in libraries. There are some really good ideas that are practical and doable.
