Discussing the application of new technologies in New Zealand libraries
I went to the digital futures 2.0 summit and the national digital forum last week. Loved both of them, not entirely sure what this means for my library - I've still got to sort that out for my report. Quick thoughts...
Collaboration is the new black. No wait, sustainability is the new black.
Broadband is going to save us - if only we can keep the power on
Broadband is only an enabler, it'll be useless if we can't figure out what to do with it
I'll never be out of a job - those young Gen Y's are going to be off doing their own thing and won't want to work where I do
I'll be out of a job in 5 years - those young Gen Y's will come through and revolutionise the work space
There's a digital divide that exists because of a number of factors - it's not just economic but also social, age based, geographical, inclination, education, plus a whole lot more
people talk about innovation and productivity a lot but do they know what they actually mean?
NZ's digital future has to more than about internet/broadband
